Paper title: SHOPPING CENTRE CATEGORIES AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH REAL ESTATE BUSINESS AND URBAN PLANNING
Authors: Carvalho, João Manuel
Summary: Concentrated Shopping Premises categories tend to be viewed by market analists (e.g., agency companies) as consisting of shopping centres, retail parks and outlets, though it is possible do find further categories in the former, through simple economic analysis. Some of the categories reflect the actual investment performance, other the underlying real estate development opportunity. All of them bear some specific relationship with urban and suburban areas which may enhance local development or bring some form of decay. What if developers have been too enthusiastic and some shopping centres shoudn't have been developed? A case study based in Portugal, with possible use for East European economies where this type of premises is growing fast.
