Paper title: Strategic information technology planning for computer integrated construction

Summary: This paper explains what is meant by the strategic use of information technology (IT). It describes the background to making strategicuse of IT tools in future by outlining and commenting on the use thathas been made of them until now in the construction sector in Singapore. It offers suggestions regarding how strategic use of IT in construction can be brought about by initiatives from government agencies, professional institutions, and private enterprises through the use of some case study examples. The benefits of strategic IT use, are set out,as are the effects it may have on restructuring within the industry, the professions and enterprises, and its possible influence on productivity and organisational competitiveness.
