Paper title: A systemic approach to building modeling - analysis of some object-oriented building product models
Authors: Ekholm A
Summary: This paper introduces a systemic approach to the description and modelling of buildings. Basic properties of buildings are discussed. A critical analysis of some proposals for building product models based on object-oriented modelling is made. The analysis shows that ontology, including systemics, can contribute to the theoretical background of building modelling by clarifying concepts like property, system, part-whole, level and space. Some areas for future study are proposed.
