Paper title: Application of Discrete Event Simulation and Conwip on Inventory Control
Authors: Weizhuo Lu, Thomas Olofsson, Anders Segerstedt
Summary: Simulation is an effective quantitative analysis tool to compare and evaluate different system design. However, the application of simulation in construction industry has been limited to relatively restricted research fields. This paper presents an simulation model for inventory control which integrated discrete event simulation (DES) and constant work-in-progress (CONWIP) together in order to minimize inventory level, at the same time, maintain throughput and cycle time under process variation. The presented model will be of interest to those evaluating the impacting of lean base method on construction project performance with simulation.
